Installation of 140 front entrance doors plus communal fires screens and doors across 15 floors of 16-storey residential block.

Chiltern building is one of the tower blocks on the Queensway Estate in Southend-On-Sea which is benefiting from regeneration works.

CASE STUDY 2:
DU CANE COURT

SUMMARY OF WORKS:

Upgraded existing front entrance door sets (originally 1930's doors) to the required FD30 standard.

Updated communal door sets to the required standard for smoke control.

Installed concealed door closers, ironmongery and frame smoke seals.

Internal trims removed, frames adjusted, intumescent mastic added to frame perimeter, ensuring gaps to perimeter of frame/leaf are 3mm (+/-1mm).

Planned an appointments schedule with the main contractor to complete 4 door upgrades per day.

On completion of door upgrades to be compliant, LFS issued certification under BM Trada maintenance scheme.

BLUE FINN BUILDING

Carried out a survey for compartmentalisation works needed in the £415 million, 16 level floor-to-ceiling glazed building.

Conducted a detailed, comprehensive fire stopping survey.
-
Survey included a marked out floor plan of all the areas of where fire stopping work was needed and a detailed breakdown for each penetration highlighted.

LFS carried out the works essential to the building, which included fire stopping over 1000 penetrations to compartmentalise the basement levels to the building.

SUMMARY OF WORKS:

Invited to survey the entire building’s doors and fire stopping to determine which corridors and rooms need their doors upgrading and/or replacing.

Contract included a heavy vetting process to allow access in to the building.

Carried out a comprehensive survey in excess of 835 doors; mixed between communal, office, various riser and vault area doors.

Doors included specialist heritage doors and security doors.

Carried out a survey of all fire stopping works needed in all riser areas of the building.
